Regenerative Medicine, Honestly Defined
Regenerative medicine is one of the most discussed and most overhyped categories in modern wellness. At Atlas & Willow in Clarksville, Tennessee, we approach it with both interest and discipline. The therapies we offer — platelet-rich plasma (PRP), peptide therapy, IV nutrient infusions, PRP hair restoration, and the hormone optimization that supports them — share a common principle: they aim to support the body's own capacity for repair rather than to override or suppress it.
That principle does not, by itself, validate any specific therapy. Each treatment has its own evidence base, its own appropriate indications, and its own limits. We discuss each candidly, present the supporting literature when relevant, and decline to promise outcomes that the evidence cannot support.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
PRP is prepared from a small sample of your own blood. The platelets — and the growth factors they release — are concentrated and injected into the tissue being treated. Because PRP is autologous, the immune-related risk is limited. The clinical evidence is strongest for certain orthopedic indications (lateral epicondylitis, mild to moderate knee osteoarthritis, some tendon injuries), and growing for hair restoration in androgenetic alopecia.
PRP is not a substitute for surgical care when surgical care is indicated, and it is not appropriate for every joint or every patient. We evaluate carefully and refer when indicated.
Peptide Therapy
Therapeutic peptides are short chains of amino acids that act as signaling molecules. Several have a meaningful clinical history. Sermorelin and tesamorelin support the body's own growth hormone axis. Other peptides studied for tissue repair and recovery — including BPC-157 and TB-500 — exist in an evolving regulatory landscape, and we prescribe only within current legal and clinical guidelines.
Peptides are not a universal answer. They are a tool, selected when the clinical picture supports them, dosed with care, and re-evaluated honestly.
IV Nutrient Therapy and PRP Hair Restoration
IV therapy delivers fluid, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and antioxidants directly into the bloodstream. It is most useful as part of a comprehensive plan — supporting recovery from training, supporting illness recovery, supporting energy in patients with documented deficiencies, and supporting the hydration and micronutrient demands of intensive seasons of life or work.
PRP hair restoration uses the same platelet-rich plasma described above, injected into the scalp to stimulate follicles in patients with early to moderate androgenetic hair thinning. It is typically offered as a series of three to four treatments and combined, when appropriate, with topical or oral therapies.
Where Hormones Fit In
Regenerative therapies work better when the hormonal and metabolic foundation supports them. Low testosterone slows soft-tissue repair. Hypothyroidism slows hair regrowth. Insulin resistance and chronic inflammation blunt the response to nearly every intervention. For this reason our regenerative consultations typically include the same comprehensive lab workup we use throughout the practice. Treating the foundation often determines whether the more targeted therapies have anything to build on.
